Community Service

Public Domain - As a growing part of Portico's interest in community service, we are committed to the built environment. Above, Portico and its members, illustrate an example of our commitment to the public domain. It has used its own resources and channeled thousands of pro bono hours into re-shaping the street-scape. Examples of this are illustrated above in ‘before’ and ‘after’ (top) photos of the East Johnson-King William utility conversion pilot project spear-headed by Portico. Awareness of the pilot project brought Roy Pachecano of Portico together with other residents to form a Utility Conversion Committee. With the political support of Mary Alice Cisneros (District 1) and City Council, funding for Phase 1 was approved by the City of San Antonio in 2009 where residents enjoy a pole-free environment in the King William Park. Construction in King William Park was completed in 2011. [image above]

Sponsored Internships - Portico began sponsoring paid internships in 2006 who are attending graduate level programs in real estate, finance/accounting, preservation, planning and architecture from the University of Texas at San Antonio and Columbia University. Portico is proud to have sponsored several students attain full time positions in their respective fields.

Film Arts - Portico's sponsorship of the performing arts, namely in film and motion-picture production, also expresses, indirectly, the company’s exploration in how people inhabit their living spaces. The short-film above was shot on location at a Portico Residential apartment in the King William Historic District of San Antonio. Portico acknowledges the masterful and creative work of the City of San Antonio’s Film Commissioner, Drew Mayer-Oakes, in a short film entitled “Dual.”  Click on the image above.
