Our approach to residential development captures historic beauty with new age technology as illustrated in this
recent project.
This vintage New York City townhouse was recently completed in 2004. With full upgrades to all building systems, this
property received a regional award for interior design by the Preservation Trust. Also featured in the New York Times and
PBSs Ask this Old House, the townhouse is a fine example of sensitivity towards late nineteenth century architecture integrated
with twenty-first century amenities.
High speed internet network, flat LCD television panels, creative re-use of townhouse floor plan layout and through-house
audio systems are counter-points to age-old design and construction: 13 foot ceilings, hand carved wood details, parquet marquetry,
inlaid wood wainscot, and stained glass.
Portico Residential LLC is currently restoring two additional nineteenth century estate residences. We strive for perfection
and the marriage of old world art forms with new age technology. Our work is sustainable, utilizing, wherever possible environmentally-friendly
materials and processes. We believe that smart homes, well designed, incorporating the latest technology, should enhance the
value of the real estate and its improvements. Future projects will showcase photovoltaic solar panels, rammed earth and poured
light-weight concrete. Stay tuned for more to come.
