Public/Community Service

Mr. Pachecano created and chaired the Committee on Utilities for the Hamilton Terrace Block Association in New York City from 1998 to 2001. He was instrumental in working with city officials in removing overhead cables and data lines to protect valuable viewsheds toward St. Nicholas Park and the Hamilton Grange, a US Department of Interior national historic landmark.

His work continued enhancing the public domain / streetscape by overseeing the significant capital improvements/upgrade to historic street lighting. Working with US Representive Charles Rangel (D-NY), the street lighting conversion took place over several months and was attributed to the strategic planning of several years by the local community preservation board. Film director Wes Anderson, upon hearing about the transformation from his film scouts, decided to shoot the Royal Tenenbaums, in its entirety, on the block. The motion picture recieved great reviews.

Portico Real Estate Investments LLC Makes Property Donation
At the end of 2005, Portico Residential's twin company Portico Real Estate Investments LLC (PorticoREI) purchased, then donated a vacant residential dwelling to Iglesia Bautista Sur San Antonio, a spanish-speaking non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization. The donation is aimed at assisting the recipient's community youth program by offering interested youth an opportunity to discover and learn a building trade. Roy Pachecano, President and Founder of PorticoREI met with leaders of the organization to also offer construction related funding. Design services will also be provided pro-bono. Partnering with this small organization has allowed PorticoREI to share its expertise in the rebuilding of the dwelling.
